April 30, 2013  Week 1, MTC
So P-day here is crazy. We got these new schedules where we only actually have like 40 minutes of personal time. Ya and laundry is a war. Seriously you pretty much have to guard a washer, don't make eye-contact with anyone and just go for it or you won't get one. But everything's going pretty great. My companion, Baker Shimai is from American Fork and is super awesome. We laugh all the time. Seriously. My district is amazing. We mesh so perfect it's weird. We all quote movies and sing songs, we have a hard time staying focused sometimes so then we sing hymns to get back on track. My teacher, Black Sensei is awesome. He pushes us so hard. We had a test on Hiragana on our fourth day and we already know so much compared to the other Japanese districts who got here on Wednesday. So we have an "investigator" who we teach. He's actually another Japanese teacher but he acts like an investigator and we will be teaching him the whole time we're here. We have to teach in Japanese and yesterday the only aids we could use were our Japanese Book of Mormon, our dictionary and our daily planner where there's a little spot for notes. Super intense. We can say certain phrases pretty good and we plan what we're going to say but then sometimes Suzuki San (investigator) will ask a question or say something and my companion and I look at eachother and are just like "what the heck do we say?" Then we try to use all the words we've learned and use hand motions to answer haha. It's so bad but we just keep reminding ourselves we haven't even been here a week. So Sunday was super different. Everything is split up. So we can go to music and the spoken word in the morning and then we have Relief society, which is with all the sisters in the MTC and the lesson is always a guest speaker. And guess who it was? Sister Oscarson, (I think is her name) the brand new General Young Women's President. That was her first official assingment. She's great. Then we do some things, I can't really remember our days are so packed it's crazy. Then we sort of have sunday school with our own district, then we do some stuff and then at 3:15 we have sacrament meeting with our Branch. And the majority of it is in Japanese. Ya. Also every week the Branch President randomly calls people in Sacrament meeting to give talks, and they have to be in Japanese haha. So on top of everything else you have to write a talk in Japanese just in case.
It's super crazy, but awesome.
Love you!
